Thiruvananthapuram: In the football frenzy Kerala, houses, roads, bridges and at some places even jack fruits, were painted with Argentinian football team’s home jersey’s Blue and White stripes colour and Brazil’s home jersey’s Yellow.
Interestingly, nobody had ‘painted’ the red and white checkerboard home shirt of Croatian football team.
But as Croatia, the Balkan nation, has stormed into the FIFA World Cup 2018 finals with a stunning extra-time goal by Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic eliminating England 2-1, interestingly, we can find a government entity in Kerala ‘painted’ with the Croatian home jersey colour.
It is none other than Triveni Supermarkets.
Triveni Supermarkets and shops, since its inception, has the Croatian team’s red and white checkerboard patterns on their buildings.
Triveni Supermarkets and shops were established by the Kerala State Co-operative Consumers’ Federation with main objective of saving the public from the exploitation by retail and middleman.
Triveni markets deal with mainly in the wholesale of food and grocery, cosmetics, household and electrical, and textiles. In all, there are 195 Triveni Super Markets, Little Triveni Super Stores and Mega Marts in the state. In addition to these, they are also having 57 Mobile Triveni Stores serving at the doorstep of the customers.

But they were seen off when Mandzukic reacted quickest to Croatian winger Ivan Perišić’s header to smash the ball past England’s Jordan Pickford.
